Yes. When temperatures exceed 100°F, concrete loses surface moisture faster than it can cure properly, which causes cracking before the slab has reached its full strength. Experienced local contractors schedule pours for early morning and use additives to manage the set time.
The main reason is the clay-heavy soil under most of Laredo. Clay swells when it rains and shrinks during dry spells, and that movement stresses the concrete slab from below. Proper base compaction and correct slab thickness are the two most effective countermeasures.
